The holidays are over, but we still have Christmas lights and decorations on the roads, and I’d like to hold on to the holiday mood for a little while longer, by sharing some pictures I took in Salerno, Italy.
It was the best decoration I’ve seen in a long time: the whole city has been decorated by artists; the theme this year is Aurora Borealis and Fairy Tales. I’ll leave to my (poor) pictures to show you some of it. I can say that it was a pleasure to walk around the city and it really felt magical (unless you are worried about electricity consumption, in which case you might not be that happy. But that is Christmas for you, we all waste money and electricity and feel happier for a while. At least they did it in style).
You can find some (better) pictures of the artistic lights on this website.
I’ve included a picture of a beautiful mural I saw in Salerno. I looked it up later on: it’s been sponsored by the Fondazione Gatto, in memory of the local poet Alfonso Gatto, and realised by an Italian artist, Alice Pasquini. Worth a look!
